I find that this article nailed it on the head. Gullet is clearly pandering to the wishes and desires of the public school system and shows little, if no regard for the law and the potential benefits addtional Charter Schools could bring to Arkansas children. I find her denial of Dove and Prism to be quite suspicious and makes one wonder what potential collusion took place between existing public educators in NW Arkansas before this last State Board meeting? Also, her insinuation that people "act like they woke up one day and decide to start a school" is atrocious. She has no idea the quantity of work, effort and serious thought that goes into a charter school preparatory process and the corresponding application process. Both Dove and Prism were fully prepared to open viable Charter Schools in NW Arkansas next year. Her arguments hold no weight and makes one wonder how she was granted such a poweful position inside of state government. I find her totally illogical and not qualified for the position she holds. What a shame that potential Charter Schools were denied the opportunity to prove they could bring a higher level of education into Arkansas. Something needs to change on the State Education Board and I think a good place to start would be to have the governor rescind her appointment to the State Board of Education.

Where is the accountability? Gullet and her crew are appointed...right? Is there not some level of accountability anywhere in this process. Her comments as quoted in the recent NWA newspaper article were condescending and disconnected from the real life situations that parents and students are facing.
